A middle-aged man was crushed to death by the wheel of a truck while returning home after dropping his two daughters from school. The dead man’s name is Sitanshu Nath (45) from Shanichara Bazar. This terrible road accident took place in Bagbasa area of Assam – Agartala National Highway No. 8 under the Dharmanagar sub-division of North Tripura district.
It is reported that on Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. Sitangshu Nath was returning to his house in Shanichara on his Pulsar bike number KA59E/2298 after dropping his two daughters at Bagbasa Holycross School. After reaching the area between Bagbasa Bazar and Shanichhara Bazar, he fell on the pitch road due to a huge pothole on the national highway. Then a speeding truck coming towards Churaibari from behind ran over his head and ran away. He died on the spot.
The eyewitnesses immediately reported to the Bagbasa police outpost. Before the police from the police outpost rushed to the spot, the local people blocked the road at the accident spot, and Shanichara Bazar demanded the arrest of the killer truck.
Locals complain that the speed at which trucks from the state and outside the state come and go on the national highway is very dangerous. Moreover, due to this high speed, a young man died after being crushed by the wheel of a truck. Therefore, the public demands that the police of the transport department and the local police outpost should prevent the speeds of high-speed trucks on the national highway. Otherwise, the common people will have to constantly lose their lives.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a suspect AS number truck and driver, along with the assistant driver and another person in front of Churaibari police station. Also, the police of the local police outpost have taken up a road accident case and started an investigation. With the intervention of the police, the national highway was withdrawn in Bagbasa area at around 12 noon. But the national road blockade in the incident area is still going on till the news is written, and for which small and big vehicles carrying goods and passengers have to suffer.
