Agartala, Feb 10:
Just six days remain for the vote casting of Tripura Assembly Election, and a rapid campaign by BJP, Congress-CPI(M) alliance, and TIPRA motha as the major parties of the state are everywhere to take its stand. But this is the first time the national parties are seriously in a challenge with a regional party for domination of seats and formation of the government, with the TIPRA Motha party being the main key factor in this election.
TIPRA (Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance) Motha party led by royal scion Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has taken the state by storm with the slogan for “Greater Tipraland”, and is contesting alone in this general election of Tripura. But being a new and small regional party has been facing the problem of sufficient funding compared to other national parties. Some big and small donations started to get poured after TIPRA chairman Maharaja Pradyot took to social platforms conveying hearty people for whatever support.
In such a situation, the erstwhile princess of Tripura and the maharani of Kutch couldn’t refrain away from helping the greater cause of Tripura, and donated Rs. 10,00,000/- (Ten Lakh) for the TIPRA Motha election campaign a few weeks back.
Maharani Priti Devi, the erstwhile princess of Tripura married in Kutch and became the Maharani of Kutch. She is the last daughter of Maharaja Bir Bikram, and Aunt of Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarma of Tripura. She celebrated her 82nd birthday recently and is a well-wisher for the state of Tripura.
As spoken by Maharaja Pradyot, help from his aunt Maharani of Kutch is help and love towards the Tiprasa and all the people of the state. Someone helping from outside means a lot, whereas the people from within the state should take an example and support their own cause more in a broader way.
The TIPRA Motha, which is contesting 42 seats, is expected to do well in the 20 tribal-dominated Assembly seats within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, which has been in power since 2021. The offer of a pre-poll alliance by both the BJP and the Left-Congress alliance shows that the Motha is a force to reckon with. The Motha rejected the Left-Congress offer while negotiations with the BJP fell through after it declined to give in writing that it would grant a Greater Tipraland within the constitutional framework.
It is worth a mention that the majority of people and political leaders were surprised when TIPRA chairman Maharaja Pradyot did not take to contest in the 2023 assembly election. Though the selection of candidates was hard times spent many hours night and days.
Speaking to TIPRA chairman, he said that fulfillment of demands and constitutional rights is his true destiny. He wants to give something good and fruitful to the people of the state. Power, money, and ministerial post are secondary, rather he would never betray his people from their promised faith. With few days remaining for the election, TIPRA chairman Maharaja Pradyot is committed to supporting all the contesting candidates and attending mass gatherings, even though he is facing health problems.
The state of Tripura is in a wait to witness the outcome poll result of the major trios of Cong-CPI(M), BJP-IPFT, and TIPRA motha, and who with whom forms the Government.
