Dharmanagar, 7 June 2022: The forest department recovered the locks of many illegal agar trees from the road adjacent to the Shanichhara bit office in the north district of Tripura. The agarwood was recovered when the smugglers were smuggling with a three-wheeler TR05R1611 auto. However, no one was arrested so far. Agar trees including autos are currently detained at the district forest department.
Hemant Debnath, Range Officer, Dharmanagar Forest Department, said the estimated market value of the agarwood tree would be around Rs 40,000-50,000. However, it is known from agar traders that these trees cannot be priced in this way, and that the price of this agar tree may be much higher.
Meanwhile, according to the forest department, some people from Dakshin Phul Bari contacted the forest department after the agar tree was seized and said that agar was stolen from their place. They have also lodged a written complaint in Kadamtala police station in this regard.
It is learned that the forest department will submit a report to the Dharmanagar court on Tuesday after examining all aspects of the incident.
