Agartala: A shopkeeper beat another shopkeeper to death over a minor quarrel. This sensational murder happened in Amtali Madhyapara market near the capital.
The name of the dead youth is Sion Bhowmik (23). His house is in Bishalgarh area. Samrat Debnath, a neighbouring shop owner, beat Sion to death with a rod in broad daylight on the side of the Agartala Sabrum National Highway on Friday morning.
According to the local sources, Sion has a computer store located in Amtali Madhyapara Bazar. Samrat Debnath has a tire shop next to Sion’s shop. After the opening of the shop on Friday, a dispute broke out between the two traders after seeing the CCTV footage and a fight ensued. Once Samrat Debnath beat Sion with a rod/sable and killed him on the spot.
Even though the surrounding people saw the matter, no one dared to come forward as Samrat Debnath was aggressive. The news was reported to the police.
On receiving the information, West District Superintendent of Police along with police from Amtali police station rushed to the spot. Police have arrested the accused Samrat Debnath.
