Teliamura, 7 June 2022: The marriage of a minor was ruined due to the intervention of Teliamura subdivision administration. The incident took place in Trishabari area under Teliamura police station.
Describing the incident, DCM Bappaditya Roy Chowdhury of Teliamura subdivisional administration said that the news came based on secret information that a minor boy and girl would get married in the Teliamura Trishabari area. As soon as such news came, DCM Bappaditya Roy Chowdhury along with police and Child Line workers raided Tapan Karmakar’s house in Trishabari.
It was rumored that Tapan Karmakar’s minor son would get married on Tuesday to the minor daughter of a man from Karailong. When questioned by the administration, the boy’s and the juvenile’s sides denied the allegation and resorted to lying to that administration group, saying that they were adults. But as soon as the legal documents came to light, the son of Tapan Karmakar was found to be a minor and the daughter of a person from the Korilong area was also a minor.
Later, on the instructions of the administration, the police brought the minor boy, his mother, father, close relatives, and the mother of the minor to the police station on behalf of the minor.
However, it is seen that with the advancement of science, underage marriages are increasing at a rapid rate, hiding the information from the administration, which is a reprehensible thing in civil society.
But in civil society, a section of educated people are indirectly supporting the method of underage marriage.
