Dharmanagar, 22 Sept 2022: Four out-of-state smugglers were arrested by the Dharmanagar police station along with dry cannabis worth Rs.4 lakh. The accused are Mukesh Kumar, Kanai Kumar, Prince Raj and Chhatulal Raj. All are the residents of Bihar state. The incident took place at an auto stand under Dharmanagar police station in North Tripura district.
It is learned that around 10:30 am on Thursday, four youths came to the auto stand in Dharmanagar city and asked an auto driver to drive them to Churaibari. At that time, the locals and the auto drivers, felt a suspicion in the movement of the four youths, and the information was given to the Dharmanagar police station. The police reached the spot and recovered eleven packets of snorted ganja from bags of different sizes that the four youths were carrying. Four youths from outside the state were also arrested.
The arrested are Mukesh, Kanai, Prince and Chhatulal respectively. At present four ganja smugglers are in the custody of the local police station along with the ganja. The police are continuing to interrogate the arrested. During the preliminary interrogation of the police, the arrested confessed that they had come to Dharmanagar from Silchar on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, these illegal ganja were handed over to them from Dharmanagar railway station area by some ganja dealers of Dharmanagar. Then they were supposed to go to Churaibari with the ganja in an auto and from there they were supposed to cross to the outer state of Bihar.
The police of the local police station said that a total of 39 kg of ganja was recovered from the arrested. The market value of which is about four lakh rupees. NDPS case has been registered against the arrested and started investigation. On Friday, the police will hand over the arrested to the Dharmanagar district court seeking police remand.
