Former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb at Rajya Sabha gave a speech regarding the temple and heritage in Tripura. Other than Maa Tripureshwari Mandir in Udaipur, the former CM sought development of Unakoti, Pillak, Bhubaneshwari Mandir, and site at Boxanagar.

He demanded for an Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) circular office to be placed in the state, so that overall development can take place.

Former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb was elected to the Rajya Sabha on the lone seat in the state that went for by-election on Sept 22, 2022 Thursday, an expected victory given the Bharatiya Janata Party enjoys a comfortable strength in the assembly.

Deb secured 43 votes and defeated CPM candidate and former finance minister Bhanulal Saha, who got only 15 votes.

The BJP has 36 seats in the 60-member assembly and their alliance partner Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) has seven; the CPM has only 15 members and Congress one.

The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after Manik Saha resigned to replace Biplab Kumar Deb as the chief minister.

Delhi, 06 Dec 2022

The court hearing in Supreme Court of India against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) filed by Bubagra Pradyot is scheduled at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. Besides the sit-in demonstration in Jantar Mantar for the Demand of Greater Tipraland, many leaders of Tipra Motha party went to enquire about the hearing in Supreme Court.

Speaking to the media Bubagra Prdyot said, “Today the hearing is at 3.30 pm. But as of now, it is known that the government of Assam and Tripura has not given any reply regarding CAA. Today many have come to Delhi from Tripura including Ex-misniter, MDC, EM, MLA etc”.

“We have promised the Tiprasa people to fight against CAA, and we are not going to hold back. Today we are here, and have met with the students leaders of Assam also. We will keep fighting against Citizenship Ammendment Act”.

“We are not fighting against any community. But from the beginning Tripura have already taken lots of influx from outside, and we don’t want any further outsiders to come inn anymore”.

Indcating to the governtment, Pradyot said, “Why have you passed such a law, where in the coming days there will be more tensions, problems and increase in population. That’s why we are fighting against the act”.

Most of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur have been kept away from the CAA. But Assam and Tripura have been included by CAA, where the states border is directly with Bangladesh. This policy of the government is not right, and we want Citizenship Amendment Act to be not implemented in the state of Tripura.

Ex-minister of Tripura Mr. Mewar Kumar Jamatia also pointed against the wrong strategy and the problems to occur not only in Tripura, but which would affect the whole north-east region.

Tripura’s regional party sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar seeking more autonomy for the Tiprasa people

Delhi, 05 Dec 2022

Hundreds of tribals from Tripura, including a large number of women, on Monday began their two-day sit-in demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in the national capital to intensify their demand for greater autonomy for the tribals with Constitutional recognition.

Tripura’s influential tribal-based party — TIPRA, which spearheading the agitations for ‘Greater Tipraland’ since last year to achieve more autonomy and political power for the tribals, organised the sit-in demonstrations in the national capital to draw attention of the Central government and national leaders.

After organising various agitations and numerous events in BJP ruled Tripura, several hundred leaders and workers of TIPRA led by party supremo and former royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman went to Delhi to hold the stir on December 5-6 to press its demand for more autonomy for the all round development of tribals, who constitute one-third of Tripura’s four million population.

Speaking to the media Mr. Pradyot said, “We are not against any community. We want justice and more power for the backward and poor tribals. We had organised a similar two-day sit-in in Delhi in November last year. Like previous occasions, this time too, we would submit a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to accept our ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand.”

He said TIPRA would continue to organise various programmes and peaceful agitations in support of its demand.

TIPRA, locally known as Tipra Motha, has been governing the politically important Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) since last year and they wrested the power of the autonomous body in April last year defeating the BJP, CPI-M and the Congress.

In a Facebook post, Deb Barman said: “Thousands of indigenous Tiprasas from all parts of the state (and country) organising the demonstration in Delhi to compel the decision-makers in the power corridors of the national capital to listen to our lawful and constitutional demand. Let’s show the true spirit and power of Thansa.”

Months ahead of the Assembly polls in Tripura, TIPRA held a mega rally in Agartala on November 12.

Political experts predict that TIPRA would play a crucial role in the Assembly elections in Tripura, expected to be held in February next year.

Congress, CPM, and TIPRA Motha parties are seasonal political parties: Biplab Kr. Deb

Belonia, 03 Dec 2022

A public meeting was organized at Belonia Chittamara by Janajati Morcha to make the Bharatiya Janata Party win in the upcoming elections for a prosperous future. Speaking as the chief guest, former Chief Minister of Tripura and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb said that the Congress party is the B-team of the CPIM. Because of them, the Left remained in power in Tripura for a long time. By creating political instability and terror, the communists had tarnished the southern district including Belonia in the past. But under the current government, several development activities are being implemented in this district including Special Economic Zone. As a result of which local income is generated besides Economic Prosperity.

Targeting the opposition political parties, Biplab Kumar Deb said, Congress, CPM, and Tipra Matha parties are seasonal political parties. When elections or polling festivals come, they can be seen in the field.

Criticizing the communist-led government, he also said that earlier the farmers were kept busy in meetings and marches by showing various expectations of benefits. But the present state government has established a positive environment for agricultural work in addition to assisting the farmers to work on the land and for better crops. With the assistance, the income of farmers has almost doubled. Not only this but also the income of people in all sections has increased.

He complained that the management of the previous directionless government did not have a plan for the future. The state was almost neglected in terms of development. But the current government, besides implementing a multifaceted development program, has also highlighted the direction the state will take in the next 25 years.

He said that the sun of liberation that has risen in the state under the direction of the Prime Minister has accelerated the all-round development of the people from farmers to every section of Tripura, but instead of developing the people, the previous ruling party organized various oppressions on them including extortion.

MLA Arun Kanti Bhowmik, Belonia Mandal President Gautam Sarkar, and others were present at the meeting.
