21 held for submitting false documents during police recruitment

Guwahati: The CID of Assam Police has arrested 21 persons for allegedly submitting forged documents during the police recruitment process earlier this year.

The CID on Monday also summoned around 100 candidates for questioning over this allegation.

According to reports, a total of 414 candidates submitted false documents and a case has been already registered against them.

The CID has recently begun re-checking the candidature of the applicants suspected of furnishing false testimonials during the recruitment.

According to an official, 414 candidates submitted false certificates regarding computer proficiency which was mandatory to get the appointment.

Sources said the owners of two computer education centres were also summoned by the CID team.

Out of these 414 candidates, a few have already got the appointment and are undergoing police training

However, many candidates denied the charges and claimed that they have submitted authentic documents.

Some of them even staged a protest earlier in front of the CID office.

Drugs worth Rs. 30.84 crore seized in Aizawl

Guwahati: In a major drug haul, a peddler was caught with Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs. 30.84 crore in Aizawl on Monday, Assam Rifles said in a statement.

Acting on specific inputs, the joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department set up a mobile vehicle check post at Falkland in the northeastern part of the state capital, it said. 

The team closely observed the movement of vehicles and intercepted a suspicious vehicle there. 

During thorough checking, 92,550 tablets of Methamphetamine worth Rs. 30.84 crore were recovered from the vehicle, it said. 

The entire consignment was seized in situ and the individual was taken into custody by the joint team, it said.

A man died after being crushed by the truck wheels, the locals blocked the national highway demanding the arrest of the killer truck

A middle-aged man was crushed to death by the wheel of a truck while returning home after dropping his two daughters from school. The dead man’s name is Sitanshu Nath (45) from Shanichara Bazar. This terrible road accident took place in Bagbasa area of Assam – Agartala ​​National Highway No. 8 under the Dharmanagar sub-division of North Tripura district.

It is reported that on Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. Sitangshu Nath was returning to his house in Shanichara on his Pulsar bike number KA59E/2298 after dropping his two daughters at Bagbasa Holycross School. After reaching the area between Bagbasa Bazar and Shanichhara Bazar, he fell on the pitch road due to a huge pothole on the national highway. Then a speeding truck coming towards Churaibari from behind ran over his head and ran away. He died on the spot.

The eyewitnesses immediately reported to the Bagbasa police outpost. Before the police from the police outpost rushed to the spot, the local people blocked the road at the accident spot, and Shanichara Bazar demanded the arrest of the killer truck.

Locals complain that the speed at which trucks from the state and outside the state come and go on the national highway is very dangerous. Moreover, due to this high speed, a young man died after being crushed by the wheel of a truck. Therefore, the public demands that the police of the transport department and the local police outpost should prevent the speeds of high-speed trucks on the national highway. Otherwise, the common people will have to constantly lose their lives.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested a suspect AS number truck and driver, along with the assistant driver and another person in front of Churaibari police station. Also, the police of the local police outpost have taken up a road accident case and started an investigation. With the intervention of the police, the national highway was withdrawn in Bagbasa area at around 12 noon. But the national road blockade in the incident area is still going on till the news is written, and for which small and big vehicles carrying goods and passengers have to suffer.

Log Hut in Narikel Kunj Dumbur reservoir inaugurated by CM Dr. Manik Saha

Gandacharra, 17 Oct 2022: After a long wait, the newly constructed log hut at the Narikel Kunj of Dumbur reservoir was inaugurated on Monday in the hand of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Tourism Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, MP Rebati Tripura, MLA Parimal Devabarma, MDC Bhumikananda Reang and other high-ranking officials of the administration were present there among others.

While addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, “We are looking for different places to go during the festivals. Many people in India and abroad have no idea about Tripura. I came to Narikel Kunj a few days ago and changed my mind. I could never imagine that such a beautiful place could exist in Dumbur reservoir in Tripura. Dr. Manik Saha said that he visited Delhi several times and met the ministers on this issue, especially about Narikel Kunj and Dumbur reservoirs. The Chief Minister requested them to visit Narikel Kunj at least once, even if they have visited Thailand, Hong Kong, etc. He said everyone should go camping in Narikel Kunj.
