Trinamool Congress press meet with a bunch of allegations against the ruling party

Dharmanagar, 18 June 2022: Trinamool Congress state president Subhal Bhowmik held a press conference in Dharmanagar with a bunch of allegations against the ruling party. The press conference was organized to call for an end to electoral terrorism and transparency in the voting process. He also slammed the ruling BJP on various issues.

Ripon Bora, state president of Assam’s Trinamool Congress, joined hands with the BJP in Tripura, including Assam. He said BJP’s goonda raj was going on in Assam. Encounters are made from time to time. So far over 200 encounters have been made in Assam. Opposition leaders, including the President, have approached the law. The plan is to eliminate the opposition. If the BJP is blamed for the dictatorial rule in the country, they cannot accept it. So he called on the Trinamool Congress to strengthen its hand in time, and to win the Trinamool Congress candidates by a huge margin.

Subal Bhowmik said that thousands of flags and festoons were torn down in Yuvrajnagar to detoriate casting their votes. Fear of grassroots activists cannot be stopped. The BJP has lost its way after realizing that the people want the Trinamool Congress. So they are trying to turn this by-election into a farce by tearing flags and festoons and showing fear. But it will not happen this time.

He also accused the Returning Officer of Yuvrajnagar Center of working for the ruling party. He said they would approach the State Election Commission on what was happening in Yuvrajnagar and would follow the law if necessary. Still, we will not talk about leaving the BJP, said Subhal Bhowmik.

Also present at the press conference were state Trinamool general secretaries Baptu Chakraborty and Tapas Roy, West Bengal Trinamool student leader Jaya Dutta, Yuvrajnagar center candidate Dr Mrinal Kanti Debnath, Trinamool leader Biswajit Deb and others.

Near Kharkiv a Wagner Group mercenary shot by sniper

A Russian mercenary, who gained notoriety for butchering prisoners of war and civilians in the Donbas, has been killed while fighting in Ukraine, Daily Mail reported.

Vladimir Andonov, 44, a fighter for the shadowy Wagner Group, was shot by a sniper near Kharkiv during a reconnaissance mission on June 5, Russian media said.

Andonov was known to Russians as ‘Vakha’ or ‘The volunteer from Buryatia’ after the region he was from, but to Ukrainians he was known as ‘the executioner’ for the massacres he helped carry out during Russia’s first invasion of the country in 2014.

His death was confirmed by Zhambal-Zhamso Zhanaev, head of the region where Andonov was from, who spoke to a Russian newspaper.

Andonov had served in the regular Russian military from 1997 until 2005 when he moved to the city of Ulan-Ude where he studied in a teaching college, Daily Mail reported.

He dropped out of school before completing his studies and got a job in trade, before answering a call for volunteers to go to Ukraine and join the fighting in 2014.

Andonov was drafted into the Olkhon special forces company fighting in the Donbas, and took part in the Battle of Debaltseve in early 2015 — one of the last major battles of the initial war.

At the time, he appeared in a video filmed in the region which became one of the first pieces of evidence that volunteers from the Buryatia were in Ukraine.

Ukraine accused him of personally participating in the massacre of prisoners of war in the town of Logvinovo in the aftermath of the battle, and of killing civilians elsewhere in Donbas.

Bangladesh container blaze: 13 firemen killed due to incomplete info, wrong procedures

Dhaka, June 7: The deaths of 13 fire fighters – the highest fatalities in a single fire incident – while tackling the blaze and explosions at the Sitakundu BM Container Depot, was due to the lack of proper information and also the wrong way of operating, officials said on Tuesday.

According to an official, 150 fire fighters were trained in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia on how to douse chemical fires and identifying chemicals in case of such a fire and have special equipment and chemical protection suits. Skilled fire fighters would not go so near a chemical fire, the official said.

The members of this team are stationed at the headquarters and divisional cities. As per the procedure, the fire fighters begin extinguishing the blaze if it is a normal fire. In the case of a chemical fire, the specially-trained hazmat (hazardous materials) unit would go with protective jackets.

But none of these 11 trained personnel of the hazmat unit in Agrabad, Chattogram went to Sitakunda industrial area or at Kumira Fire Station, the nearby fire station.

Twenty-two normal fire fighters were the first to respond to the fire that broke out in the depot in Chattogram and most of them never made it back.

The fire fighters who rushed to BM Container Depot in Sitakunda from two adjacent fire stations were not trained on extinguishing chemical fires. Officials, however, alleged the local fire fighters, without informing the hazmat team in Agrabad, began dousing the blaze considering it a normal fire, as they were not informed about chemical substances at the depot.

Hazmat team members only went there after seeing media reports on the explosion.

Fire Service officials told the press that they were not informed about chemicals being stored in the depot. If they had known that, they could have taken precautionary and responsive measures accordingly.

The loss and number of casualties could be lessened if such trained fire fighters, with hazmat suits, can be kept at fire stations near the factories, said the colleagues of the deceased fire fighters.

Besides, the Department of Explosives has mentioned that BM Container Depot did not have any license to store hydrogen peroxide. Local Department of Explosives Inspector Tofazzal Hossain said that special infrastructure is a must for storing such chemicals, but there was no such arrangement in the depot.

His department did not know the depot had such chemicals either – and now the depot owner has said that he himself did not know what type of chemicals were stored at his own institution.

However, rubbishing this, Fire Service’s Agrabad Branch Inspector Mahbub-e-Ilahi said: “The claim of the depot owner that he did not know which chemicals were stored at his own terminal does not make any sense. We have seen owners concealing information on previous fire incidents as well.”

Child marriage was ruined with the intervention of Teliamura administration

Teliamura, 7 June 2022: The marriage of a minor was ruined due to the intervention of Teliamura subdivision administration. The incident took place in Trishabari area under Teliamura police station.

Describing the incident, DCM Bappaditya Roy Chowdhury of Teliamura subdivisional administration said that the news came based on secret information that a minor boy and girl would get married in the Teliamura Trishabari area. As soon as such news came, DCM Bappaditya Roy Chowdhury along with police and Child Line workers raided Tapan Karmakar’s house in Trishabari.

It was rumored that Tapan Karmakar’s minor son would get married on Tuesday to the minor daughter of a man from Karailong. When questioned by the administration, the boy’s and the juvenile’s sides denied the allegation and resorted to lying to that administration group, saying that they were adults. But as soon as the legal documents came to light, the son of Tapan Karmakar was found to be a minor and the daughter of a person from the Korilong area was also a minor.

Later, on the instructions of the administration, the police brought the minor boy, his mother, father, close relatives, and the mother of the minor to the police station on behalf of the minor.

However, it is seen that with the advancement of science, underage marriages are increasing at a rapid rate, hiding the information from the administration, which is a reprehensible thing in civil society.
But in civil society, a section of educated people are indirectly supporting the method of underage marriage.

Customers are a victim of harassment at Boxanagar Grameen Bank

Boxanagar, 7 June 2022: Customers at Boxanagar Grameen Bank are facing daily harassment in one form or another. Bank employees are careless about the customer issues, even after several complaints to the Bank authority about the problems. Especially old age allowance recipients are not getting the right service from far and wide, where they are made to wait from 10 am to 4 pm. Sometimes there is no electricity or maybe internet service in down etc., because of which they are not able to pay their bills.

This has caused extreme anger among the customers of Boxnagar Grameen Bank. Talking to such a customer, it is learned that he has to return home empty-handed after coming to the bank for the last few days and sitting there for several hours. He could not buy the necessary things for the house due to a lack of money.

Moreover, customers rent cars from Rahimpur or Putia and come to Boxnagar Grameen Bank again and again, which costs a lot of money. Half of the monthly allowance they get goes to car rental.

Thus, if the customers have to be harassed due to the negligence of Grameen Bank employees, then people may turn away from Grameen Bank.
