Sid-Kiara reception ; bollywood star flock from Alia to Kajol, Ajay to Abhishek

0

Mumbai: So, Vikrant and Dimple were finally united and presented to the world at a star-studded reception in Mumbai on Sunday evening.

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, who played the star-crossed lovers in ‘Shershaah’ on Prime Video in 2021, had their happy ever after at their wedding reception at the end of hectic festivities that took them from the glorious resort of Suryagarh in Jaisalmer to the Malhotra home in Delhi and finally to his adopted home in Mumbai.

The couple (looking picture-perfect as usual, despite online criticism of Kiara appearing without a mangalsutra) posed for paps as a stream of stars greeted them. They included Malhotra’s former classmate and rumoured girlfriend from ‘Student of the Year’ (2012), Alia Bhatt (who came without Ranbir, but with Ayan Mukerji), and recent co-actor from ‘Thank You’, Ajay Devgn, who arrived with wife Kajol.

The Advanis and Malhotras also did a joint photo-op. Siddharth’s parents, Sunil and Rimma, his banker brother Harshad and wife, Kiara’s parents Jaideep and Genevieve and rapper brother Mishaal, were shot against a flower bedecked wall bearing the couple’s initials ‘SK’.

Among the other stars present was the other Siddharth, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and star wife Vidya Balan; actor Abhishek Bachchan, who came solo; and character actor Anupam Kher, who was dressed in glittering black.

Alia Bhatt’s mother-in-law, Neetu Kapoor, who played Advani’s mother-in-law in ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’, also made it a point to come to the party. —IANS

La Liga: Barcelona beat Villarreal to move 11 clear; Depay strikes for Atletico

0

Madrid (Spain), Feb 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) FC Barcelona opened an 11-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table thanks to a 1-0 win away to Villarreal.

Pedri’s first-half goal on Sunday night, which came after a neat flick from Robert Lewandowski, was enough to exert pressure on Real Madrid, who play on Wednesday night after their success in the Club World Cup on Saturday night.

Once again Barca produced an excellent defensive performance to keep Villarreal at bay, although the home side pushed for an equalising goal in the closing minutes.

Memphis Depay’s 89th-minute goal for Atletico Madrid, plus a series of saves from Jan Oblak and a stroke of fortune when Iago Aspas hit the crossbar from a free kick, gifted Atletico Madrid a 1-0 win away to Celta Vigo.

Atletico had to play the last 20 minutes with a player less after Stefan Savic was sent off for pulling back Haris Serefovic when he was the last defender.

Depay decided the game when he turned home Yannick Carrasco’s deflected shot with time running out.

Valladolid and Osasuna drew 0-0 in a game that was more entertaining than the final score may suggest, while Getafe saved a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Rayo Vallecano in a game where it looked as if everything was going against them.

Mauro Arambarri scored an own goal to put Rayo ahead in the 38th minute and Borja Mayoral then wasted a great chance to level in the 51st minute, when he sent his penalty over the bar.

Carles Alena was sent off two minutes later after being shown a second yellow card, to leave Getafe with 10 men, before luck finally shone on the home side when Enes Unal scored the equalizer. The striker charged down a clearance, with the fortune that the ball bounced into the Rayo net.

Getafe keeper David Soria was then Getafe’s hero after saving an 85th-minute penalty from Rayo striker Raul de Tomas.

Athletic Club Bilbao made it two wins from two games as they beat Valencia 2-1 in the Mestalla Stadium.

Samu Castellejo’s 17th-minute goal put Valencia ahead, but Nico Williams equalized with a great solo on the half-hour and Oihan Sancet scored the winner after good work from Inaki Williams in the 72nd minute.

Valencia worked hard for an equalizing goal, but Athletic’s Spain international keeper, Unai Simon kept them a bay with a string of fine saves that leaves Valencia in the bottom three, with problems on and off the pitch.

Sevilla continue to improve and Jorge Sampaoli’s side won 2-0 at home to Mallorca thanks to first-half goals from in-form striker Youssef En-Nesyri and winger Bryan Gil, who netted his first goal since returning to the club on loan from Tottenham.

Betis won a thrilling match 3-2 away to Almeria after Andreas Guardado scored the winning goal in the 70th minute.

Betis twice led through Rodri and Sergio Canales, but Almeria twice fought back through Luis Suarez and Samuel Costa, before Guardado’s winner.

On Friday night, Cadiz claimed three vital points in their battle against relegation with a 2-0 win at home to Girona thanks to first-half goals from Gonzalo Escalante and Sergio Guardiola, who scored his first goal for the club, in the 34th minute.

Tech Giant Apple declines allegation for evading users’ privacy controls

0

Tech giant Apple has rubbished the allegation of evading the users’ privacy controls, and said that it has fixed a potential privacy vulnerability with iOS 16.3 and other updates.

Earlier this month, a report had mentioned that Apple Maps contained a security flaw that might have enabled an app to circumvent a user’s privacy settings, reports AppleInsider.

However, now, the iPhone maker has claimed no apps took advantage of the flaw.

“Last week, we issued an advisory for a privacy vulnerability that could only be exploited from unsandboxed apps on macOS. The codebase that we fixed is shared by iOS and iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS, so the fix and advisory was propagated to those operating systems as well, despite the fact that they were never at risk,” Apple was quoted as saying.

“A report also incorrectly suggested an iOS app was exploiting this or another vulnerability to bypass user control over location data,” it added.

The company further mentioned that it investigated the allegation which concluded that the “app was not circumventing user controls through any mechanism.” –IANS

Tollywood star Rana Daggubati; father named in land grabbing case

0

Tollywood star Rana Daggubati and his father, noted film producer D. Suresh Babu, have landed in legal trouble in a case of alleged land grabbing here.

The ‘Baahubali’ actor and his father have been named in the case filed by local businessman Pramod Kumar, who has alleged that father and son are pressuring him to vacate land that belongs to him.

The third additional chief metropolitan magistrate court at Nampally in the city has issued summons to them in this matter.

According to the complaint, the disputed land in Shaikpet was leased out to him in 2014 by Suresh Babu. When the lease ended, Suresh Babu allegedly decided to sell the property to him for Rs 18 crore and a deal was struck.

Pramod Kumar claims that while he has made a payment of Rs 5 crore towards the deal, Suresh Babu has not bothered to complete sale and registration processes. The complainant has alleged that before the matter could be resolved, Suresh Babu transferred the property to his son Rana’s name.

Real Madrid beat Al-Hilal 5-3 in eight-goal thriller to lift Club World Cup

0

Vinícius Júnior scored twice and assisted Karim Benzema to lead Real Madrid to its record-extending eighth Club World Cup title by beating Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal 5-3 on Saturday.

Federico Valverde added two more goals for the European champions in a final that turned into a shootout. Al-Hilal never led but showed it was no fluke that it upset Brazil’s Flamengo to reach the decider in Morocco’s capital.

Vinícius has been the target of racist slurs in the Spanish league and even had his effigy hung from a bridge, but has not let that negatively impact his performances.

The Brazil forward, who scored the only goal when Madrid beat Liverpool in last season’s Champions League final, leads Madrid with 16 across all competitions.

Vinícius opened the scoring in the 13th minute and curled home Madrid’s fifth and final goal in the 69th.

“Vinícius has been improving since last season just as the team has also grown. We won the Champions League and now the world title, and Vinícius has grown along the way,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. “We are thrilled with what he is doing, above all because he keeps getting better. He is much more decisive now and is making the difference in every match.”

Luciano Vietto scored twice and Moussa Marega once for the Asian champions, who fell behind early and never got closer than 2-1 by halftime.

Madrid last won the Club World Cup in 2018. It has succeeded in five different decades.

Benzema was a mild surprise in Madrid’s starting lineup a day after Ancelotti said it was touch-and-go if he could play at all. The Ballon d’Or holder missed Madrid’s last two games, including the 4-1 semifinal win against Egyptian club Al Ahly on Wednesday.

The France striker cued the opener after exchanges with Valverde and played Vinícius clear to beat goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf.

Valverde smashed a poor clearance between the legs of a defender, who deflected it slightly before it whizzed past Al-Mayouf in the 18th.

After struggling in the opening period to even connect three passes, Al-Hilal found its stride after Marega caught Madrid’s backline trying to spring an offside trap in the 26th. The former Porto striker streaked away unbothered, sized up Andriy Lunin and fired past Madrid’s backup goalie, who started for the injured Thibaut Courtois.

The goal settled Al-Hilal and Madrid was stymied until Vinícius made an exquisite pass to serve up a goal by Benzema. Vinícius used the outside edge of his right boot to bend a short cross around a defender and meet Benzema’s darting move. Benzema did the rest by using one touch to blast it in in the 54th.

Valverde added his second in the 58th.

Vietto scored on either side of Vinícius’ second goal, netting in the 63rd and 79th as Madrid’s defense failed to track the Argentine in the box.

A late miss by Marega denied providing Al-Hilal a chance to go for a last-gasp equalizer.

“This was the game of their lives, and you could tell it on the field, so we had to take this game seriously,” Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos said after collecting his sixth club world title across Madrid and former club Bayern Munich.

Al-Hilal’s squad included members of the Saudi Arabia team that stunned eventual champion Argentina at thes World Cup. Its star player against Madrid, however, was Vietto, a forward who played for several Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid, before joining the Saudi league.

With another world title in the bag, Madrid can focus on defending its European and Spanish titles. It trails Barcelona by eight points in the domestic league and will meet Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 this month. It will also meet Barcelona, which won their Spanish Super Cup final last month, in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.

Earlier in Tangier, Flamengo beat Egyptian club Al Ahly 4-2 in the third-place game. Pedro and Gabriel Barbosa scored twice for the South American champions. —IANS

Pakistan media blames Indian group for foreign ministry data hack

0

In what appears to be the latest in a series of cyber attacks, Indian hackers have reportedly managed to extract data from Pakistans Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) office, Samaa TV reported.

The hackers gained unauthorised access to the ministry’s systems and were able to extract a significant amount of data.

Based on a LinkedIn post shared by Zaki Khalid, an intelligence analyst, there has been a potential data leak of Pakistan’s MoFA, Samaa TV reported.

The Sidewinder group, allegedly based out of India, has released sample datasets of a total of 7.5 TB that is believed to have been breached from the ministry’s systems, the report said.

The leaked files also include WhatsApp conversations between the members of the Pakistan Consulate in Barcelona.

The authenticity of the data samples has not been confirmed, but Zaki Khalid suggested that the matter warrants a thorough technical audit of MoFA’s systems and networks, including the likelihood of certain officers’ smartphones being compromised.

The sample datasets have been released on one of the group’s Telegram channels.

The timing of this potential data leak is notable, as India’s Ministry of External Affairs was recently reported to have faced a similar breach by an unidentified hacker.

This breach could be a tit-for-tat response, which may have been perceived as originating from Pakistan, said Zaki Khalid, Samaa TV reported.

It is important to note the Indo-Pak rivalry and previous instances of Indian hackers attacking Pakistan’s cybersecurity space, which add a layer of complexity to the situation, the report said.
