Agartala, 21 July 2022: During 25+ years of Left Front government in the state of Tripura, the media platforms were kept devoid of basic procurement rights. Several deputations and sittings were neglected during that period. But after the BJP government came into power, the ministers and the ICA department officials have taken up to listen and improve the situation of various media platforms in the state.
With the rise of literacy, the unemployed youths have increased rapidly. In a state with no major Industry and factories, the dependency for the government jobs have gone into high expectations among the people. At this hour of need, the media platforms of Electronic media, print media and web media have been providing employment for the youths up to some percent of extend. The concept of journalism has widened, and many people are making a livelihood from the sources.
Taking an account of the matter, State Information and Cultural minister Mr. Sushanta Chowdhury have declared an enlistment grade and a promotion grade for the eligible Television Channels of the state. Among the enlisted list of different channels, a kokborok based electronic media and television channel Chini Khorang has received an enlistment of promotion grade with category. Chini Khorang is the first kokborok channel from the state of Tripura to achieve such success from the department of ICA. The intellectuals thinks that, following the footsteps many more kokborok channels will come up and get enlistments in the coming days.
On July 20, a delegation of Tripura Electronics Media Society met the State Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury and thanked the state government for first officially reconsidering and giving category to electronics media. TEMS reiterated its demand for a minimum 51 per cent sanction on government advertisements as a matter of fact for the very popular TV news media that reach large numbers of people in every corner of the state.
Officials of Tripura Electronics Media Society expressed hope that the competent leadership of the Minister of Information and Culture will try to fulfill the demands. In the amicable discussion, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also assured to take timely action by showing sincere sympathy towards the demands.
