In August last year, a special staff meeting was held at Tulsibati School in Agartala in the presence of 5 reformist BJP MLAs to save the state BJP. Five to seven leaders and workers from all assemblies were invited in the meeting. In the meeting, an attempt was made to know the opinion of the field level workers. Not a single speaker said that the party and the government are doing well in Tripura. 18 people spoke. Everyone talks about radical changes in party and government management.
Otherwise, they assume that BJP workers may join Tipra motha and Trinamool. Five MLAs Sudeep Roy Burman, Ashish Saha, Ashish Das, Diba Chandra Rangkhawl and Burba Mohan Tripura and former BJP president Ranjoy Deb also spoke in the meeting. It is said that around 2000 people of BJP were present there.
The meeting called with the skeptics brought together the disgruntled BJP to decide the next course of action. In the meeting, the then BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that the party workers are disappointed. This meeting has been called to listen to them. The points raised in the meeting will be conveyed to the High Command. However, Sudip left the BJP and joined the Congress. He won the by-election and is now a Congress MLA. Burba Mohan Tripura is going to leave the team after this.
