Charilam, 15 Sept 2022: A gang of cow thieves raided three houses in the same area in one night in Charilam area on Wednesday night.
Three expensive cattle were taken from three houses by breaking the door of the cattle house. The estimated market value of the three cattle would be around one and a half lakh to two lakh rupees, said the householder of the three houses and the village panchayat member. The incident happened late on Wednesday night.
The householders of three houses woke up on Thursday morning to find the door of their cattle house broken. Cattle were missing from the cattle shed. Three residents woke up early Thursday morning to screaming and yelling. The incident occurred in Phakiramura area of North Charilam village panchayat under Vishalgarh police station.

Still, the question arises as to how a group of thieves can attack in such a densely populated area. The citizens of Chalilam area are suffering from the nuisance of burglary. Not only cattle theft, gangs of thieves takes various materials from backyards including rubbe sheets and from plantations rubber scapes.
Every year during Durga Puja, the problem of thieves increases at an excessive rate in different areas of Charilam. Many times the citizens of Charilam area appealed to the Bishalgarh and Bishramganj police to increase police patrolling in the dark of night. But when the theft happens, the police patrols in the dark for one to two days for an hour. After a few days, the police calms down. As a result of which, daily theft cases are increasing in Charilam area.
