Teliamura, 01 Oct 2022: Villagers are fed up with the attack of wild-tusked elephants. Again, the house of a householder was damaged by the fierce attack of wild tusk elephants. The incident took place on Friday night in the DM Colony area under Teliamura Forest Department.
The attack of wild elephants has been less for the last 6 months. Lately, there has been an increase in attacks by wild tusk elephants in various elephant-prone areas under the Teliamura forest department almost every night.
A wild tusk elephant suddenly entered the Teliamura DM Colony area on Friday night. The elephant first entered the house of a man named Deepak Das and attacked the mud hut. As a result of this attack by the elephant, the earthen house was broken and destroyed. The chickens in the house were buried under the ground and died. Not only that but various pieces of furniture in the house were also destroyed. Meanwhile, the local residents informed the Teliamura forest department about the arrival of elephants in the area.
Allegedly no trained Forest Department personnel felt the need to set foot there. Some ADS team volunteers were sent away without equipment to drive the elephants. Their duty was over by bursting a few packet of crackers.
Allegedly, when the wild tusk elephant attacked Dilip Das’ house, the volunteers of the ADS team had no crackers in their hand. Forest department ADS team personnel were seen in the role of no-where help situation on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the locals want the Teliamura forest department to take a more active role in driving away the elephants, because the villagers are fed up with the rampage of elephants.
