On the occasion of Happy Diwali, clothes were distributed among the needy mothers and sisters in Churaibari under the initiative of Mamani Roy, a member of Zilla Parishad and under the management of Friends Club. Churaibari Friends Club, located on the border of Tripura and Assam under the Dharmanagar Sub-Division of North District, organized Shyama Puja this year like every year.
This year, their Puja has entered the 12th year with a budget of Rs 5 lakh. It organizes cultural programs by artists of the state and outside the state along with various social programs. This time also on the day of puja i.e. from 24th October to 27th October, the club organized social programs and cultural events.
On the following day of puja i.e., Tuesday at 4 pm on the initiative of Mamani Roy, a member of the Zilla Parishad of North district and under the management of Friends Club, social initiatives were taken for one hundred and twenty poor mothers of Churaibari and East Churaibari village panchayats. Clothes were distributed among the sisters.
Friends Club President Somen Goswami, Secretary Biswajit Dev, District Council Assistant President Biswajit Ghosh, Member Mamani Roy, two Panchayat Heads, Deputy Heads, and all members of the club were present at the cloth donation event. After donating clothes, club president Somen Goswami said in an interview, Friends Club is engaged in social work besides standing by the side of distressed people. Moreover, on the occasion of Shyama Puja, the five days of the Puja were spent with great fanfare.
The drivers and co-drivers of all cargo lorries passing by the Assam Agartala National Highway are given sweets and water during the ten days of the Puja. He also said that at the beginning of the English New Year, Friends Club would be the first to launch an ambulance in the Kadamtala Kurti Assembly constituency. This ambulance will be run entirely under the supervision of the club authorities to help the needy.
