Real-time community chats arriving on Facebook and Messenger

0

New Delhi, Sep 14: Facebook (now Meta) has announced a new feature called Community Chats that will soon allow users to connect with their communities in real time on both Facebook and Messenger via text, audio and video.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company is building Community Chats as a new way to connect with people who share interests.

“More than 1 billion people use Messenger to communicate with friends, and soon you’ll be able to start Community Chats from Messenger as well as Facebook Groups,” he said late on Tuesday.

“We’ll also be expanding Community Chats to even more Facebook Groups,” said Loredana Crisan, Head of Messenger.

Admins can now start a conversation about a topic and get in-the-moment responses instead of waiting for people to comment on a post.

“Rather than navigating multiple topics in a single Messenger group chat, the person who creates the Community Chat can organise chats into categories so group members can easily find what’s most interesting to them,” Crisan added.

Community Chats will only be accessible to members of a group.

Facebook said it has developed a robust suite of tools to help admins easily manage both chat and audio experiences, including moderation capabilities like blocking, muting or suspending group members, and removing members or messages, as well as Admin Assist.

Members of Community Chats can also report messages to group admins or Meta, block users or leave a chat at any time.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli jumps 14 spots in ICC T20 batsman rankings after smashing 276 runs in Asia Cup 2022

0

Fresh after hitting his 71st international century, Virat Kohli has risen 14 places in the latest set of ICC’s T20 batsman rankings with Virat finishing at 15th place. He, along with Team India skipper Rohit Sharma are the only two players in the top 15 of all 3 formats in the ICC rankings.

Before the Asia Cup, Kohli had dropped to 33rd position in the T20I rankings, but he roared back into form in the multi-nation tournament smashing 276 runs in five games to rise to 15th place in the latest rankings.

Interestingly, Kohli is ranked 60th in ICC T20 all-rounders ranking, third best among Indian players after Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.

The 33-year-old had endured a tough time in 2022 so far, with runs not freely flowing out of his bat as they did before. During India’s tour of England in July, Kohli’s highest score was 20 runs.

Afterwards, he decided to take a month-long sabbatical, revealing later in an interview that he didn’t touch the bat for a whole one month for the first time in his life.

Virat returned directly for the Asia Cup opener against Pakistan, rejuvenated, and recharged, he played a brisk 35-run knock in the first match, followed by consecutive fifties against Hong Kong and Pakistan.

After failing to open his account versus Sri Lanka, the Delhi-born batsman ended a wait of nearly 3 years to finally bring up his much-awaited 71st international century, capping off an impressive Asia Cup tournament on a high.
