Teliamura, 14 Sept 2022: Local villagers blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway demanding the repair for the dilapidated road. The incident took place on Wednesday on the Assam-Agartala National Highway in the area adjacent to Hawai Bari Naka Point under Teliamura police station. As a result of the blockade of the national highway, a large number of small and large vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road.
It is known that the people of several local villages have blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway in the Hawai Bari area from 9 am on Wednesday to demand the renovation of the alternative road from Hawai Bari to Tarachan, which is connected to the Assam-Agartala National Highway. People of Tarachan, Dhanchakma and several other villages travel along this dilapidated road.
On this day, the people of Tarachan, Dhanchakma and several other villages collectively blocked the road demanding the renovation of this road. As a result of the blockade of the national highway, a large number of small and large vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road. Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sonacharan Jamatia along with large police and TSR forces of Teliamura Police Station immediately reached the spot after receiving the news of the blockade in the National Highway.
Villagers sitting on the blockade of the national highway complain that this alternative road from Hawai Bari to Tarachan has been lying in a bad condition for many years. Part of the road is pitched, but most of it is still brick soled and the road is currently in a very poor and dilapidated condition. As a result, from sick patients, school-college students to common people have to suffer in their journey. So they are forced to block the national road demanding the reformation of this road.
After long hours of blockade of National Highway, DCM Anjan Das of Teliamura arrived at the blockade site and after arriving at the blockade DCM spoke to the blockaders from time to time to clear the blockade of National Highway.
Later, DCM Anjan Das promised to repair this road within a month and after his assurance, the blockaders lifted the blockade of the national highway after about 3 hours.
