Agartala, Aug 2023: In a shocking turn of events, the state of Tripura has been thrust into the spotlight once again, this time due to a land scam involving fraudulent transactions and fake documents. Debashish Chakraborty and Biplab Sharma, the alleged culprits behind this illegal operation, have been apprehended by the West Agartala Police. They stand accused of illegally selling 133 kani of land for a staggering sum of rupees 1 crore 30 lakh. However, the mastermind behind this elaborate scheme, Chairman of the Hambai Group, Rajesh Tripura, is currently evading law enforcement authorities.

The World Education Mission Director, Himangshu Panchal, found himself ensnared in the web of deceit spun by these unscrupulous individuals, as they targeted his ambitious project to establish a new university in the state of Tripura. Debasish Chakraborty, Subrata Acharjee, and Uttam Saha orchestrated the creation of fraudulent land ownership papers, replete with fake deeds, forged agreements, and duplicate documents. Consequently, the Hambai Group, led by CMD Rajesh Tripura, Debasish Chakraborty, and their cohorts, successfully sold 133 kani of land to the World Education Mission Director, Himangshu Panchal, using these counterfeit documents.

The gravity of the situation only came to light when it was time to register the land papers, at which point the fraudulent transaction was exposed. In response, Himangshu Panchal promptly filed a case on 12th July 2023 against several individuals involved in this elaborate scheme. The list of accused includes Hambai Group CMD Rajesh Tripura, Debasish Chakraborty, Subrata Acharjee, Uttam Saha, Biplab Sharma, and Kaizar Debbarman. The case was lodged at the West Agartala Police Station, and the subsequent investigation uncovered a web of suspects, including influential figures who may have played a role in orchestrating the scam.

Despite the complexity of the case and the involvement of significant individuals, the police have remained committed to pursuing justice. As of now, Debashish Chakraborty and Biplab Sharma have been arrested by the West Agartala Police in connection with the 133 Kani land scam. However, the whereabouts of the alleged mastermind, Chairman Rajesh Tripura, remain unknown, according to West Agartala Police OC Jayanta Dey.

Speaking to the media, OC Jayanta Dey assured the public that law enforcement agencies are diligently working to locate and apprehend all those involved in this intricate land scam. Moreover, there are multiple other allegations against Hambai Group CMD Rajesh Tripura, suggesting a pattern of fraudulent activities aimed at deceiving and defrauding unsuspecting victims. The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice, with the hope of bringing all responsible parties to account for their actions.
