A protest march was organized in Dharmanagar on the initiative of the CITU Dharmanagar sub-committee to demand strict punishment for the rapists and the abettors of the rapists in Tripura. At around 11:30 AM, the procession left the CPIM district office and took out the protest program through BNB Road in front of Dharmanagar police station with slogans.
As the protest program was organized with slogans for about 45 minutes, Siburanjan Dey of Dharmanagar Police Station, came and requested to withdraw the protest program. At that time, CPM North District Secretary Amitabh Dutta said that now the police have become partisans, and attacks on the opposition and meetings are not allowed.
At the same time, he demanded the arrest and strict punishment of the culprits involved in the rape of women in the state.
