Thirteen cows were seized by the border guards on the way to be smuggled into Bangladesh

Dharmanagar, 20 July 2022: Thirteen cows were once again caught by the border guards on the way to be smuggled into Bangladesh. Later the cows were handed over at Dharmanagar police station. The incident took place on the Indo-Bangla border adjacent to Yakub Nagar BOP under Dharmanagar police station in North Tripura district.

It is known that during the early morning of Tuesday night at the Yakubnagar Indo-Bangla border, 139 border guard soldiers rescued thirteen cows from the barbed wire of the border while patrolling. However, no traffickers were caught. Border guards initial guess was that these cows were being smuggled across the barbed wire into Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, after all their legal processes, the cows were handed over to the police of Dharmanagar police station. The police have taken up the case and continued the investigation.

On the other hand, it should be noted that this intra-state cattle smuggling cycle has chosen North Tripura as a corridor. Moreover, a huge cattle smuggling syndicate has also developed in the northern district. Despite the continuous news published in different media, the state government did not seem to be active in this regard.

Allegedly, every day cattle are being smuggled to Kumarghat through Damchara of Uttar district through the chest of Panisagar. Cattle smuggling also continues from Churaibari Kadamtala, a similar border area. The various Indo-Bangla borders of the northern districts are being used. However, most of the police stations in the northern district are directly and indirectly supporting this trafficking cycle, it is also alleged.

Allegedly, along with this international cattle smuggling ring, the names of some bull drivers from Ramnagar area of Uttar district, several traffickers from Panisagar, Damchara, Churaibari Kadamtala areas have come up in the news headlines. Moreover, there are masked individuals who are running this international syndicate of cattle smuggling.

Hence the demand is being raised for the police administration to take quick action to eradicate the cycle of inter-state cattle smuggling. Otherwise, the people of the northern district will be forced to protest in the coming days in a democratic manner.
