03 Oct 2022: Suryakumar Yadav cannot be stopped. This Indian middle order batsman has been playing great innings in one match after another. Surya was ultimately criticized for his mediocre performance in the Asia Cup. Many said he could not handle the pressure of big matches. But Surya is consistently proving them all wrong.
Just looking at his last three innings will tell you how good form Suryakumar is. In the final i.e. third match of the three-match T20 series against Australia, he played an innings of 69 from 34 balls which played a crucial role in India’s victory. In the first T20 match of the series against South Africa, in difficult batting conditions when all other cricketers failed miserably, he sealed the victory for the country with an unbeaten innings of 50 runs from 33 balls.
Suryakumar Yadav’s batting was one of the biggest reasons why India batted first yesterday and put the burden of the mountain of runs on South Africa. He played a blistering innings of 61 runs with 5 fours and 5 sixes off 22 balls to help the team reach 237 runs.
He has been in such good form that it has pleased his IPL and national team captain Rohit Sharma. In the post-match interview, Rohit Sharma jokingly revealed that he really wanted to field Suryakumar Yadav in the match against Pakistan on October 23 so that he could face Pakistan in this form.
Suryakumar also set a big record in yesterday’s match. In terms of delivery, he became the fastest cricketer to cross the 1000 run mark in terms of T20I matches. It took him 573 deliveries to reach this milestone. Then in second place is Australia’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. It took him 604 balls to reach this milestone.
